Let's get one thing very clear -- I am by no means a gourmet chef. Or a food stylist. Or a photographer. Most of the recipes I make usually say "Time Required: 30 Minutes" or less. The more complicated dinners typically are made by Brian and on a weekend. I never make up my own recipes. But, I do like making sure my family gets fed a good dinner. Typically, it's the first time we come together after eleven hours apart. It's something I look forward to all day. For me, this is, oddly enough, not about the recipes or food we eat. Rather, it's a celebration of family dining.
Some people I know may find this blog odd or boring. Maybe even along the lines of "who cares what you ate?" That's fine. Others I know might not. And most importantly, I think it could be fun -- personally -- to document our dinners. Just one simple photo. Not much text. With two boys ages 6 and 4, it's frankly not always fun. Usually meals consists of us telling them to sit down, use a fork, and stop playing with their food. But what I've found with my other blog over the past year, is that it forces me to stop ... and find the fun, interesting and humorous out of the mundane and sometimes annoying.
Before many dinners, C usually reminds us to sing the song he sings at school before lunch.
"Oh, the earth is good to me.
And so I thank the earth.
For giving me, the things I need.
The sun and the rain and the apple seed.
The earth, is, good, to, me."
So here we go...
