Me too! It showed up in an organic vegetable delivery I had ordered, and I had never seen or cooked with romanesco before. It's good! Kind of like broccoli and cauliflower, but not strong. Even my kids ate it.
I had to make Romanesque sauce one year (maybe my first year?) and I had no idea how it was supposed to taste, Melissa said it was okay, I just know there were gallons! left over. So now, your children ate this? Cause Lucy would have a go, but the boys would fall away from the table in hysterics just imagining me trying to get them to eat it. Is that the pyramidy shaped broccoli? I think that's called Romanesque Broccoli, if i recall. I was at Tony's last night, by Riverside Mall, they have a really amazing produce section, lots of offbeat and different things......but I ramble.
They did! They ate it. They actually picked out the sausage and ate the Romanesco (the crazy broccoli/cauliflower looking thingy) alone. But they eat anything that looks a bit odd. I think Tony's is great. You can find most anything there.
